Marjorie A. Borman, 77 of formerly of Chapel Ridge, and Congress Street Apartments passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in the Bradford Ecumenical Home.

She was born in Scarsdale, NY on June 1, 1930 the daughter of Andrew H. and Laura G. Lyons Borman who precede her in death.

She was raised and educated in Bradford. She was a 1948 Graduate of St. Bernard High School and received her Registered Nurse degree from Sisters Hospital, Buffalo NY. She then received a BA Degree from State University of Buffalo, attended the University of Florida, Syracuse University and received a MBA from the University of Colorado.

Her career spanned the fields of Nursing Education and Business. She is listed in “Who’s Who” in American Business Women and was named Teacher of the Year in 1964 while teaching sixth grade at St. Christopher School in Tonawanda NY.

Miss Borman was one of the three women that broke into the male dominated field of Financial Aide Administrator. She pioneered the opening of the financial aid office at Trocaire College in Buffalo, NY, and guided the growth and development of the Department until her retirement in 1990 after which the college retained her as a consultant.

She was a published author of several books on financial aid for parents and students.

She was a member of the American Nurses Association, New York Teachers Association, The Woman’s Professional and Business Association, the University and College Teachers Association, and the New York State Eastern, Regional and National Association of Financial Aide Administrators.

She was an active member on several state and National Committees advising legislators on matters concerning financial aide for college students. She was awarded certificates of recognition from the IRS and State Tax department for volunteer work in the Tax Aide program for the elderly, sponsored by the AARP and was a literary volunteer. She was member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

She is survived by one sister, Diane M. (Neil) Murphy of Bradford, two nieces, Kathleen M. Sadowsky of Kansas City, Kansas, Debra A. Johnson of Finleyville, PA, one nephew, David M. Murphy of Findlay, Ohio, several great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard Catholic Church Bradford, on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Leo J. Gallina, Pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Margie was cremated and her urn was buried in the ground next to her mom and dads graves. Linda wrote down the names and dates of family members buried there in case anyone ever wants to do a family tree. They are:
